Here are some highlights from the August 2006 Toddler Olympics
Sojourn is proud to host an annual display of hope and success during Toddler Olympics,
held at Preisker Park in
Santa Maria. In a growing tradition, Sojourn families and community members cheered on infants and toddlers as
they showed off their emerging new skills in a variety of fun events. Younger babies participated in rolling,
sitting and reaching activities, improving their abilities even as the events took place!
Older toddlers and graduating three-year olds displayed their skills in basketball, bowling, throwing,
kicking and running.
Families prepare for this annual event with the help of their intervention team,
siblings and other family members by practicing skills during play activities in their homes and community.
A large bowl can become a basketball hoop, while a tunnel made from sofa cushions can encourage crawling!
Local parks and other community settings offer opportunities for our children to practice running,
tricycle riding and other fun skills while interacting with new people.
These activities culminate in a fun day of play and socializing, including all the appropriate
Olympics “accruements”, such as the carrying of the torch, nutritional supplements (snacks!)
and first place ribbons for all!

See you there!

caring of each family through a partnership with our interdisciplinary team.
