We use play and the parent-child relationship to promote optimum development in motor, cognitive,
language, social-emotional and self-help skills.
Sojourn's services for children are all family-centered, individualized, interdisciplinary, and provided in each
child's "natural environments" of home, neighborhood, child care, preschool, and family activities. We "follow"
each child and family where they are inclined to go, and provide needed ideas and support, rather than create
new or isolated activities that may not be sustainable.
EARLY INTERVENTION
Early intervention services help the family understand
and enhance the child's development, as in:
- Interacting with others through play and in everyday routines, activities, relationships and places
- Developing language and pre-literacy skills
- Using body for balance, movement, strength and coordination; using hands and eyes for exploration and discovery
- Problem solving and meeting challenges to new situations
- Gaining independence with eating, sleeping, calming and getting dressed
- Taking in and integrating information through all the body senses
We use play and the parent-child relationship to promote optimum development in motor, cognitive,
language, social-emotional and self-help skills. Activities we employ are targeted to each baby
or toddler’s unique needs and family priorities. Siblings and extended family members are always
welcome participants.

In our A Child’s Path Program, we use play and everyday routines to focus on parent-child interactions
and emotional and social growth. Some young children present exceptional challenges in the areas of
behavior and interaction, and we build on child and family strengths to alleviate the difficulties
they face.
